About MEA Kailash Manasarovar Yatra 2025

The Ministry of External Affairs @MEA 2025 organises the Kailash Yatra every year from June to September through two different routes – Lipulekh Pass (Uttarakhand), and Nathu La Pass (Sikkim). The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra (KMY) is known for its religious value and cultural significance. It is run by hundreds of people every year. Being important to Hindus as the abode of Lord Shiva, it holds religious significance for Jains and Buddhists as well.

Selection Process: Kailash Mansarovar Yatra 2025

  1. Draw through Fair Computerized System: The pilgrims will be selected and allotted various routes and batches by the Ministry of External Affairs through an impartial computer-generated, random, gender-wise selection process. At the application stage, a team of two people in the same batch can give the option to travel together. Efforts will be made to accommodate such requests as far as possible, subject to the eligibility conditions of each applicant. Each applicant must complete the application online.
  2. Notice: After computerized draw, the selected applicants will be provided with their registered e-mail ID/mobile number. They will be notified via automated message. Helpline No. The updated status can also be accessed through 011-23088133.

Terms

  • The route and batches once allotted to passengers through computerized process will not be changed in general. However, if changes need to be made, selected passengers can request for change in the batch giving justification for the change. This change can be made only when the vacant space is available. The Ministry’s decision in the matter will be final.
  • After the computerized draw, each selected applicant will have to confirm his/her participation by crediting the non-refundable confirmation amount mentioned in ‘Fees & Expenses for Travellers’ to the bank account fixed by Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN) or Sikkim Tourism Development Corporation (STDC) before the cut-off date.
  • If the amount is not paid to the account of KMVN/STDC by the cut-off date, such passengers will be automatically removed from the selection list and put in the waiting list of the batch and the request of other passengers will be considered as mentioned in para 3 above.
  • Passengers confirmed for a batch will be required to reconfirm their participation in the batch before reaching Delhi for the journey. The re-confirmation will have to be done online on the website. Failure to do so may result in their names being struck off from the batch list.
  • The confirmed passengers are required to report at DHLI on the due date and time as per the itinerary prescribed for the batch. Failure to do so will result in their name being struck off from that batch. All passengers in each batch must travel together and back.
  • Registered/waitlisted passengers can also report to DHLI for inclusion in the batch in place of a drop-out passenger. Inclusion of names is entirely subject to availability of vacant space arising out of drop-out.

Eligibility

  • The pilgrim must be an Indian citizen.
  • He/she should possess an Indian passport with a minimum validity of 6 months as on 01.09.2019 of the current year.
  • He/she should be at least 18 years of age and not more than 70 years of age as on 1st January of the current year.
  • His body mass index (BMI) should be 25 or less.
  • He should be physically fit and medically fit to travel for religious purposes.
  • Foreign nationals are not eligible to apply; Hence, OCI cardholders are not eligible.

Important documents after selection:

Selected and confirmed passengers must bring the following documents with them while coming to Delhi for the journey.

  • Indian passport valid for at least six (6) months as on 1st September of the current year.
  • Photograph: Coloured, passport size (6 copies)
  • Indemnity bond, on non-judicial stamp paper of Rs. 100 or locally applicable amount and attested by a Magistrate of the first class or a Notary Public.
  • Undertaking for evacuation by helicopter in case of emergency.
  • Letter of Consent for cremation of the body in case of death in Chinese territory.

If any of the documents mentioned in para 9 above are not produced or if they do not conform to the requirements of the current year or any other deficiency is found therein, the passenger will not be allowed to travel. The decision of the Ministry in the matter will be final and no representation in this regard will be entertained.
