About Para Legal Volunteer (PLV) @ Adhikar Mitra Vacancy WBSLSA

State Legal Services Authority, West Bengal @ WBSLSA 2025 invites vacancy of Para Legal Volunteers @ PLV (Adhikar Mitra) in terms of the National Legal Services Authority (Free and Competent Legal Services) Regulations, 2010 (as amended) and as per the guidelines of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA).

Eligibility Criteria: PLV Vacancy at State Legal Services Authority, West Bengal

• The applicant must be a citizen of India and above 18 years of age.
• Minimum educational qualification: Matriculation from any recognised Board.
• Higher qualifications will be given weightage. Computer operation, data handling, and knowledge of accounting will be preferred.
• The applicant must be physically and mentally fit and strongly committed to upholding law and justice. The applicant should have a mindset to assist the needy in society; he/she must have compassion, empathy, and concern for the upliftment of the marginalised and weaker sections of society.
• The applicant must not be involved in any criminal proceedings.

The willingness form may be downloaded from the official website of the State Legal Services Authority, West Bengal: https://www.wbslsa.bangla.gov.in and also from the Notice Board of the State Legal Services Authority, West Bengal.

The duly filled willingness form along with self-attested copies of documents may be submitted to the Office of the State Legal Services Authority, West Bengal wherein the candidate desires to apply through speed post or in an envelope personally in the office of the State Legal Services Authority, West Bengal, City Civil Court Building (1st Floor), 2 & 3, Kiron Sankar Roy Road, Kolkata-700001 on or before 16.05.2025 by 05:00 p.m. Any application received after due date shall not be considered.

Selection Process: PLV Vacancy at West Bengal 2025

Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview depending upon the number of applications received. Selection of two PLVs will be purely based on merit, taking into account of their educational qualification, general knowledge, relevant skills, suitability to render voluntary and pro bono service and overall experience. The selection shall be carried out by a Selection Committee subject to final approval of the Hon’ble Executive Chairman, SLSA, W.B. Selected candidates will undergo mandatory training before deployment.

Honorarium of PLV/Adhikar Mitra at WBSLSA 2025

The work of PLVs does not carry any salary, remuneration or wages except honorarium at the rate of Rs.750/- (Rupees Seven Hundred Fifty) per day, if engaged in voluntary service.

Termination from Empanelment: PLV Vacancy at West Bengal 2025

Empanelment of any Adhikar Mitra (PLV) engaged in the office of SLSA,W.B. can be terminated at any time without any prior notice in the following cases by the Member Secretary, SLSA, WB:

• He/ She substantially breaches any duty or service required in the office, or
• Seeks or accepts any pecuniary gains or gratification in cash or kind from the legal aid seekers or beneficiary or his friend or relative, or
• Charged or Convicted for any offence by any court of law, or
• Indulges in any type of political activities, or
• Found incapable of rendering services of the required standards, or
• Failure to attend training programmes without any sufficient cause, or
• Indulges in activities prejudicial to the working of WBSLSA, or
• Using his/her position in Legal Services Institutions to secure unwarranted privileges or advantages for him/herself or others, or
• Remains long absent without prior intimation, or
• If otherwise gainfully employed.
