The National Law University, Delhi (‘University’) through Project 39A is seeking to engage the positions of EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR and DIRECTOR 2025 on a contractual basis at its campus in Dwarka, New Delhi. The contract will be for one year initially and can be extended on an annual basis at the discretion of the University.
About Project 39a @ NLU Delhi
Project 39A draws inspiration from Article 39-A in the Indian Constitution on equal justice and signals the broadening of our work on the criminal justice system in India. We undertake litigation, research and communications relating to legal aid, mental health and access to justice.

Qualification
- A postgraduate or doctoral degree in Law.
- At least SEVEN years of consistent, high-quality research experience in areas such as access to justice, legal aid, criminal justice administration, or allied fields.
- A strong portfolio of peer-reviewed publications in reputed journals.
- Proven ability to lead research teams, manage institutional responsibilities, and monitor outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience in drafting successful grant applications and securing competitive research funding.
Responsibilities
- Provide academic leadership and strategic direction for the Centre’s research, outreach, and policy engagement.
- • Oversee the day-to-day operations, including administration, budgeting, staffing, and project management.
- Supervise and mentor a multidisciplinary research team and ensure high-quality research output.
- Represent the Centre in national and international forums and build networks with academia, civil society, and government institutions.
- Lead efforts to secure grants and funding from prominent national and international funding agencies.

- At least FIVE years of consistent, high-quality research experience in areas such as access to justice, legal aid, criminal justice administration, or allied fields.
- A strong portfolio of peerreviewed publications in reputed journals.
- Proven ability to lead research teams, manage institutional responsibilities, and monitor outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience in drafting successful grant applications and securing competitive research funding.
Responsibility
- Reporting directly to the Executive Director.
- Assisting Executive Director in strategic planning, policy formulation, and day-to-day functioning of P39A.
- Provide academic leadership and strategic direction for the Centre’s research, outreach, and policy engagement.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations, including administration, budgeting, staffing, and project management.
- Supervise and mentor a multidisciplinary research team and ensure high-quality research output.
- Represent the Centre in national and international forums and build networks with academia, civil society, and government institutions.
- Lead efforts to secure grants and funding from prominent national and international funding agencies.
