Call for Chapters for Edited Book on International Trade & Sustainable Development, 2025.

About International Trade and Sustainable Development

Centre for Studies in International Trade and Investment Laws (CITIL), Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur, in collaboration with the Research and Advisory Centre on International Economic Law (RACIEL), National Law University, Jodhpur, is pleased to announce a call for papers for an edited book on the theme “International Trade and Sustainable Development“.

The book aims to explore the evolving relationship between international trade regimes and global sustainability efforts. Contributors are encouraged to submit original and thoroughly researched chapters that address legal, policy, and institutional dimensions of trade and sustainable development at both domestic and international levels. The edited volume will be published by a reputed academic publisher in the fall of 2025.

Important Dates

  • Last Date for Submission of Full Chapters: 30 July 2025
  • Intimation of Selected Papers to Authors: 30 August 2025
  • Tentative Publication and Book Release: October–November 2025

Qualification

We welcome contributions from students, researchers, academics, and professionals in law, economics, and policy. The detailed submission guidelines and thematic areas can be found in the official brochure attached to this announcement.

As trade continues to shape economic growth, it also presents challenges related to environmental degradation, social inequalities, and regulatory complexities. Against this backdrop, the authors can explore the following themes and beyond:

  • Environmental Challenges and Sustainability Measures in International Trade
  • Trade, Social Justice, and Sustainable Development: Human Rights, Labour, and Equity
  • Evaluating and Implementing Sustainable Trade Practices: Metrics, Policies, and Compliance
  • Industry-Specific Approaches to Sustainable Trade: Agriculture, Energy, Manufacturing, and Services
  • Emerging Innovations in Trade and Sustainability: Digitalization, Climate Policies, and Technological Advancements
  • Legal and Regulatory Frameworks for Sustainable Trade: Flexibility, Enforcement, and Policy Coherence
  • Regional and Developmental Perspectives on Sustainable Trade: Challenges, Opportunities, Policy Adaptations, and the Role of FTAs
  • Supply Chain and Concerns: Human Rights, Labour, Sustainability Disclosures and related Challenges

Submissions Guidelines

  • Abstract (350-500 words) along with 5 Minimum Keywords and with final paper should be send by [DATE]
  • Name, Designation, Name of the Organization/University/Institution and Email address and the contact number of the Authors should be mentioned in the first page (cover page) of the submitted document.
  • Co-authorship is allowed for this call for chapters 3. (max 2 co-authors)
  • Chapter should be in Garamond-12 point font and 1.5 spaced.
  • Main Title should be in full capitals, bold and centred 14-point font.
  • Sub-titles should be in sentence case, bold and 12-point font.
  • Citation Format: Please use footnotes rather than endnotes. Footnotes should conform to OSCOLA 4th Edition style.
  • All the contributions for the call for chapters should be the original work of the contributors and should not have been submitted for consideration in any other Publication.
  • Any plagiarized work will be out-rightly rejected. Plagiarism more than 15% will strictly be rejected.
  • The paper should be typed in MS WORD format.
  •  The paper must be in single column lay out with margins justified on both sides;
  • The length of paper should be between 5,000-7,000 words (excluding footnotes).

How to Submit

The paper shall be submitted both in doc./docx and pdf format via mail at raciel@nlujodhpur.ac.in and citilcourse@mpdnlu.ac.in with the subject “submission-CfP-Trade and Sustainable Development”. The body of the mail must contain title of the paper/submission followed by the author(s) details; (i) name (ii) designation (iii) institutional affiliation (if any).
