About Justice for Children Research Fellowship 2025

The National Law University Delhi (NLUD), in partnership with UNICEF, invites applications for the Justice for Children Research Fellowship 2025. This esteemed nine-month contractual fellowship, beginning on December 15, 2025, is tailored for passionate law graduates dedicated to advancing the cause of child rights in India’s criminal justice system.

About the Fellowship

The Justice for Children Research Fellowship is designed to build a strong body of academic work and policy-oriented research on issues affecting children — particularly those in conflict with the law or in need of care and protection. Fellows will contribute to impactful publications, legal analysis, and policy recommendations at a national level.

Eligibility Criteria

Essential Qualifications

Applicants must have:

  1. A Law degree (LL.B. or B.A. LL.B.)
  2. Knowledge of child rights laws such as the POCSO Act and the Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act
  3. Demonstrated experience in legal research on child rights
  4. Strong legal writing and drafting skills
  5. Proficiency in English, MS Word, and PowerPoint

Desirable Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with:

  • LL.M. or Master’s degree in Law, Social Science, or related disciplines
  • Skills in MS Excel, AI tools, or graphic design
  • Experience in social media outreach and content publication

Roles & Responsibilities of Fellows

Selected fellows will work on high-impact legal publications and research initiatives. Key deliverables include:

NLUD Chair Quarterly Newsletter

  • Writing updates on legal developments, judicial decisions, and policy issues
  • Featuring interviews with child rights experts
  • Creating analytical “Notes from the Field” based on ongoing casework

White Paper Series on POCSO Implementation

  • Deep research on the practical enforcement of the POCSO Act
  • Reviewing case orders and identifying systemic challenges
  • Recommending policy solutions and best practices
