About Journal of the West Bengal Human Rights Commission (WBHRC)

The Journal of the West Bengal Human Rights Commission (WBHRC) is a peer-reviewed publication jointly initiated by the West Bengal Human Rights Commission and the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (WBNUJS), Kolkata.

The journal serves as a dynamic platform for academic discourse on human rights, encouraging meaningful engagement with issues of justice, equality, and governance. It aims to publicise the recommendations, reports, and activities of the Commission while simultaneously fostering a scholarly exchange of ideas on emerging human rights challenges.

The West Bengal Human Rights Commission, established under the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993, has consistently worked to protect, promote, and enforce human rights across the state.

About Journal of WBHRC 2025, WBNUJS Call for Papers (Volume 3, 2025)

The Journal of the West Bengal Human Rights Commission (ISSN: 2456-3536) invites original and unpublished scholarly submissions for Volume 3, 2025. In Collaboration with the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (WBNUJS), Kolkata

This volume marks a revival of the journal in collaboration with WBNUJS and seeks to advance discussions on contemporary and emerging issues in human rights law. It aims to promote critical thinking and innovative research among scholars, practitioners, and institutions working in the field of human rights.

Submissions are invited from:

  • Doctoral researchers and postgraduate students
  • Faculty members and academicians
  • Think tanks and NGOs engaged in human rights research

Themes and Scope

The journal welcomes contributions addressing legal, social, and interdisciplinary dimensions of human rights. Authors are encouraged to adopt multidisciplinary approaches, combining insights from law, sociology, economics, and political science.

Indicative themes include, but are not limited to:

Types of Contributions and Word Limits

Submission Guidelines

  • Submissions must be original and unpublished.
  • Authors can submit in .doc or .docx format only.
  • Co-authorship up to three authors is permitted.
  • Manuscripts must be anonymized; a separate file must include author details such as name, email, and institutional affiliation.
  • All submissions are subject to a plagiarism check and peer review.
  • Formatting must follow:
    • Font: Times New Roman
    • Text Size: 12 (Main Text), 10 (Footnotes)
    • Line Spacing: 1.5 (Main Text), Single (Footnotes)
    • Citation Style: APA (7th Edition)
  • Include a disclaimer stating that the submission is original and not under consideration elsewhere.
  • References must include DOI links (if available) and be alphabetized by the first author’s surname.

All manuscripts undergo a two-stage review:
