About the NALSA Internship Programme (December 2025 Batch)

The NALSA Winter Internship Programme 2025 (December Batch) offers law students a unique opportunity to gain practical exposure to legal aid services, policy research, and grassroots justice mechanisms.

Interns will understand the structure, schemes, and operational processes of the National Legal Services Authority and other Legal Services Institutions across India.

This one-month internship aims to:

  • Educate students about access to justice and legal service delivery
  • Encourage participation in field-based legal awareness initiatives
  • Develop a sense of social responsibility and professionalism among future lawyers

About NALSA

The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), constituted under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, plays a vital role in ensuring access to justice for all, particularly for the weaker and marginalized sections of society.

Through its initiatives, NALSA promotes legal awareness, free legal aid, and amicable dispute resolution via Lok Adalats and other mechanisms.

To foster awareness among budding legal professionals, NALSA conducts its Internship Programme 2025, providing law students across India a first-hand experience of the Authority’s functions, schemes, and policies promoting social justice and legal empowerment.

Eligibility Criteria

Students eligible to apply must be:

  • Pursuing a Three-Year LL.B. Course or a Five-Year Integrated Law Course from a recognized University or Institution in India.
  • Preference will be given to:
    • 2nd or 3rd year students of the Three-Year LL.B. Course.
    • 4th or 5th year students of the Five-Year Integrated Law Course.

Internship Duration

  • 📅 Duration: One month (four weeks)
  • 🗓 Batch Start Date: 1st December 2025

The internship begins on the first day of the month and runs for four weeks continuously.

Application Process

Documents Required:

  1. Curriculum Vitae (CV) / Resume
  2. Expression of Interest (A one-page write-up explaining your motivation and suitability for the internship)
  3. No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your Dean/Head of Department/Internship Committee mentioning your name, course, and semester/year

🕒 Application Window:

  • The application form remains active for two months before the intended internship month.
    • Example: For the December 2025 batch, applications will be open from 1st October 2025 to 30th November 2025.

📩 Applications submitted via email or post will not be accepted. All submissions must be made through the online portal only.

Selection Process

  • Selection will be purely merit-based.
  • Final decisions will be made by the Competent Authority, NALSA, and will be binding and final.

Internship Guidelines

  • Internship is full-time and physical at the NALSA office, New Delhi.
  • Interns must adhere to office timings: 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Monday to Saturday).
    (Second and fourth Saturdays are holidays.)
  • No stipend, TA/DA, or accommodation will be provided.
  • Dress Code: Formal black and white attire as prescribed by the Bar Council of Delhi.
  • Interns must carry their own laptops and stationery.
  • Attendance of 90% is mandatory for certification.

⚠️ Students are advised not to apply during examination periods as full-time attendance is required.

NALSA Internship Activities

During the internship, students will be engaged in:

  • Orientation sessions on NALSA’s structure and functioning
  • Reading and analyzing SOPs, schemes, reports, and modules related to legal aid and Lok Adalats
  • Field visits to:
    • Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA)
    • District Legal Services Authority (DLSA)
    • Legal Aid Defence Counsel Office
    • National Lok Adalat
    • Mediation Centre at the Supreme Court of India
    • Supreme Court Legal Services Committee (SCLSC)
    • Supreme Court Library

Interns will also interact with officials, attend awareness drives, and understand the ground realities of legal aid implementation in India.

Submission of Report & Certification

  • At the end of the internship, every intern must submit a report detailing the work undertaken at NALSA.
  • Interns will receive a Certificate of Internship upon:
    • ✅ Successful completion of tasks
    • ✅ Maintaining 90% attendance
    • ✅ Satisfactory performance review by NALSA officials

📜 Note: No letter of recommendation will be issued by NALSA.
