Celebrating 75 Years of the Indian Constitution with a Nationwide Legal Initiative

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University (DBRANLU), Sonepat, has officially launched the 1st National PIL Drafting Competition 2025, a virtual national-level event organized by the Centre for Labour Studies. This initiative is a part of the prestigious National Conclave on “Functioning of the Constitution: Celebrating 75 Years of Indian Constitutional Journey.”
The competition aims to strengthen legal drafting skills among budding lawyers while fostering awareness of socio-legal issues central to Viksit Bharat @2047.

Purpose of the PIL Drafting Competition 2025

The competition seeks to train students in:

  • Understanding Public Interest Litigation (PIL) as a tool for social justice
  • Applying constitutional principles to real-world labour and socio-economic issues
  • Drafting precise, well-researched, and legally sound PIL petitions
  • Encouraging practical legal engagement beyond theoretical learning

This event simulates the real-life drafting pressure faced by lawyers, with the entire drafting process required to be completed within 6 hours on 4 December 2025. Use of AI tools is strictly prohibited to maintain authenticity.

About the Centre for Labour Studies, DBRANLU

The Centre focuses on advancing discourse around labour laws, social justice, and worker welfare. Its motto — “Where labour is respected, the nation becomes great” — reflects its dedication to strengthening India’s labour ecosystem through research, policy dialogue, and community outreach.

Eligibility Criteria: Public Interest Litigation Drafting Competition

  • Open to all students enrolled in LL.B. (3-year/5-year) or LL.M. programs
  • Individual participation or teams of two permitted
  • Cross-university teams allowed

  • Registration via Google Form from 22 Nov to 2 Dec 2025

Submission Guidelines

  • PIL Proposition will be emailed on 4 December 2025 at 12:00 PM
  • Final PIL submission deadline: 4 December 2025 by 6:00 PM
  • Mandatory submission in both PDF and Word formats
  • Word limit: 2,500 words (including footnotes)
  • Strict plagiarism limit: up to 10%
  • Manuscripts will undergo Turnitin checks and AI detection

Formatting Guidelines

  • Font: Times New Roman
  • Size: 12 (main text), 10 (footnotes)
  • Line spacing: 1.5 (text), single (footnotes)
  • Alignment: Justified
  • Citation Style: ILI Citation Format
