The Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab, Patiala, is set to host the prestigious 7th RGNUL National Moot Court Competition on Consumer Protection Laws, 2026. a prestigious national-level legal event focusing on modern consumer rights, digital marketing ethics, misleading advertisements, dark patterns, and product liability.  This highly anticipated annual event is proudly sponsored by The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India, solidifying its relevance to contemporary legal practice and public policy.

About RGNUL, Punjab

RGNUL, established in 2006, is recognised as a Centre of Excellence in legal education and became the first National Law University to achieve certain distinctions in 2015. The Moot Court Competition (RMCC) focuses on specialised areas of law, with the 2026 edition dedicated entirely to the vital and evolving landscape of Consumer Protection Laws.

Moot Problem Theme (Realistic & Contemporary)

The moot proposition is based on a fictional pandemic (Dhika Virus) and includes:

  • Misleading immunity product advertising
  • Dark patterns in digital marketing
  • Manipulative subscription traps
  • Consumer fraud through influencer marketing
  • Article 21 (Right to Life) vs Article 19(1)(g) (Right to Trade)
  • Product liability & mass consumer harm
  • PIL filed before the Supreme Court

This makes it one of the most advanced consumer law moot problems in India.
