This is a prestigious contractual opportunity for LL.M. graduates to work directly with the Presiding Officer and Members of the Tribunal.
About Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT)
The Securities Appellate Tribunal is a statutory body that hears appeals against orders passed by regulatory authorities such as:
- SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India)
- IRDAI (Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India)
- PFRDA (Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority)
Working with SAT offers unmatched exposure to securities law, financial regulations, and quasi-judicial functioning.
Vacancy Details
A total of 6 Law Research Associate positions are available under two categories:

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must fulfill the following conditions:
- Educational Qualification
- LL.M. degree from a recognized university approved by the Bar Council of India.
- Professional Experience
- Young Professional: Minimum 1 year experience
- Consultant: Minimum 3 years experience
- Technical Skills
- Proficiency in computers and legal research databases such as SCC Online, Manupatra, etc.

Roles & Responsibilities
Selected candidates will assist the Members of SAT in the following work:
- 📂 Reading case files and identifying legal issues
- 📝 Preparing case chronologies and summaries
- 🏛️ Attending court hearings and taking detailed notes
- 🔍 Conducting legal research on:
- SEBI Act
- IRDA Act
- PFRDA Act and allied laws
- 📚 Assisting in drafting judgments, speeches, and academic papers
Terms of Engagement
- Nature of Job: Purely contractual – no claim to permanent government service
- Tenure: 1 year initially (extendable up to 3 years)
- Leave: 8 days paid leave per year (pro-rata basis)
- Restrictions:
- Cannot practice law or accept any other employment during tenure
- Barred from appearing before SAT for 3 years after completion of contract
