The Ministry of Law & Justice, Government of India, has officially released a Vacancy Circular dated 29 December 2025-2026 for filling one post of Assistant (Legal) in the Legislative Department. The appointment will be made on a Deputation/Absorption basis in Level-7 Pay Matrix (₹44,900 – ₹1,42,400).

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible Candidates

Officials currently working in:

• Central Government
• State Governments
• Union Territories

Service Requirement

Applicants must:

• Hold analogous posts on a regular basis, OR
• Have 5 years of regular service in Level-6 (₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400) or equivalent.

Educational Qualification & Experience

Essential Qualification

• Bachelor’s Degree in Law from:
  • A University established under Central/State Act, or
  • A deemed/foreign university approved by the Central Government.

Experience Requirement

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in legal matters in:
  • Central or State Government, or
  • Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), or
  • Listed Private Sector Organisations.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 56 years
• Age to be calculated as on the closing date of receipt of applications.

Tenure of Deputation

• Normal deputation period: Up to 3 years
• Includes previous deputation or short-term contracts in ex-cadre posts.
