ToggleRoad Safety Awareness Session, HNLU
Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU), Naya Raipur, reaffirmed its commitment to social responsibility by organizing a Road Safety Awareness Session on 28 January 2026 in collaboration with the Institute of Driving and Traffic Research, Chhattisgarh (IDTR-CG). The session was held as part of National Road Safety Month (1–31 January), observed under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India.
Organising Bodies and Objective
The programme was conducted under the aegis of:
- Legal Aid and Social Services Committee (LSSC), HNLU
- Pro Bono Club, HNLU
Key Objective:
- To sensitize students about road safety laws, responsible driving behaviour, and civic duties
- To reduce road accidents through awareness and legal consciousness
Expert-Led Interactive Awareness Session
The session was led by Shri Sanjay Manhare and Shri Tomesh Kumar Sahu, expert instructors from IDTR Chhattisgarh, who used:
- Interactive discussions
- Data-driven explanations
- Audio-visual demonstrations
Major Causes of Road Accidents Discussed
- Over-speeding
- Drunk and intoxicated driving
- Mobile phone usage while driving
- Red-light violations
- Non-use of helmets and seat belts
Key Road Safety Concepts Explained
The trainers provided practical insights on:
- 🚦 Different categories of roads and applicable speed limits
- 🚧 Importance of traffic signals, especially:
- Amber (yellow) light awareness
- Stop-line discipline
- ⏱ Golden Hour Principle and responsible assistance to accident victims
- 🪖 Life-saving role of helmets and seat belts, supported by demonstrative videos
