About the Victim Advocacy Project (VAP)
The Victim Advocacy Project (VAP) is a justice-centered initiative designed to strengthen victims’ access to the criminal justice system.
Key Objectives of VAP:
- Provide structured legal representation from FIR to trial, appeal, and rehabilitation
- Address gaps in victim participation and legal assistance
- Support 450+ victims of crime over three years
- Train Litigation Fellows and Paralegals
- Generate research-based insights for legal reforms
- Develop a scalable victim advocacy model for replication across India
The project integrates field-based legal practice with academic research to build a sustainable and rights-based victim support system.
Minimum Qualification
- LL.M. (Criminal Law or related specialization)
OR - Equivalent Master’s degree in Law, Social Science, or related fields
Essential Requirements
Candidates must possess:
- Updated knowledge of new criminal codes and special legislations
- Strong understanding of victim-centric criminal jurisprudence
- Experience in legal research and drafting court pleadings
- Ability to supervise litigation teams (Fellows & Paralegals)
- Experience mentoring junior legal professionals
- Excellent written and spoken English proficiency
- Strong organisational and case-management skills
- Commitment to trauma-informed and ethical legal practice
Desirable Requirements
Preference will be given to candidates with:
- Minimum 2+ years of relevant experience
- Experience working with grassroots organisations or legal services authorities
- Proficiency in:
- MS Excel
- AI tools
- Graphic design tools
- Social media outreach
Roles & Responsibilities (Deliverables)
The Project Supervisor (Litigation) will:
- Oversee and coordinate all litigation under VAP
- Supervise and mentor Litigation Fellows and Paralegals
- Coordinate with community organisations and legal services authorities
- Ensure implementation of victim-centric strategies aligned with new criminal laws
- Collaborate with legal institutions and identify mentors
- Conduct regular court visits across Delhi
- Assign and monitor case progress
- Maintain litigation records and documentation
- Act as liaison between litigation team, project leadership, and the University
- Ensure adherence to professional standards and timelines
