The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) offers a highly prestigious Law/Legal Internship Program for the April Batch 2026 through its Legal Department. Eligibility Criteria for SEBI Legal Internship
To apply for the SEBI Legal Internship, candidates must fulfil the following conditions:
- Must be enrolled in a BCI and UGC-recognised law university or college
- Must be:
- In the 4th or 5th year of a 5-year LL.B. course, or
- In the 2nd or final year of a 3-year LL.B. course
- Marks Requirement: Minimum 60% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA in the previous semester
- Age Limit: Applicant must be below 28 years of age
- Who Is Not Eligible: Students who have already appeared for their final semester examinations
Mandatory Documents for Application
Applicants must upload a Cover Letter that meets the following conditions:
- On official letterhead of the Law School/University
- Signed and stamped by the competent authority
- Prepared strictly in the prescribed format (Annexure-I)
- Must clearly mention the aggregate percentage obtained in previous semesters
⚠️ Applications without the prescribed cover letter are rejected outright.
Selection Criteria
Selection is purely merit-based, primarily considering academic performance.
Preference May Be Given To:
- Students with exposure to corporate or securities laws
- Candidates with prior internship experience
- Applicants with research publications, moot court participation, or related achievements
Selection Intimation
- Shortlisted candidates are informed via email
- Selected applicants must confirm acceptance within 2 days, failing which the offer is cancelled
Nature of Work: Corporate Law Internship SEBI
Interns are assigned to divisions within SEBI’s Legal Department and may be involved in:
- Legal and regulatory research
- Drafting legal notes, briefs, and case summaries
- Assisting in matters before:
- High Courts
- Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT)
- Special Courts
- Understanding enforcement actions and regulatory compliance
Stipend & Certification: SEBI Internship for Law Students

Important Responsibilities of Interns
- Submission of a Confidentiality & Non-Disclosure Undertaking (Annexure-II)
- Interns must arrange their own:
- Accommodation
- Travel
- Medical insurance
- All work produced during the internship remains SEBI’s intellectual property
- Unauthorized absence or incomplete internship may lead to disqualification from future SEBI internships
