Eligibility Criteria for SEBI Legal Internship

To apply for the SEBI Legal Internship, candidates must fulfil the following conditions:

  • Must be enrolled in a BCI and UGC-recognised law university or college
  • Must be:
    • In the 4th or 5th year of a 5-year LL.B. course, or
    • In the 2nd or final year of a 3-year LL.B. course
  • Marks Requirement: Minimum 60% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA in the previous semester
  • Age Limit: Applicant must be below 28 years of age
  • Who Is Not Eligible: Students who have already appeared for their final semester examinations

Mandatory Documents for Application

Applicants must upload a Cover Letter that meets the following conditions:

  • On official letterhead of the Law School/University
  • Signed and stamped by the competent authority
  • Prepared strictly in the prescribed format (Annexure-I)
  • Must clearly mention the aggregate percentage obtained in previous semesters

⚠️ Applications without the prescribed cover letter are rejected outright.

Selection Criteria

Selection is purely merit-based, primarily considering academic performance.

Preference May Be Given To:

  • Students with exposure to corporate or securities laws
  • Candidates with prior internship experience
  • Applicants with research publications, moot court participation, or related achievements

Selection Intimation

  • Shortlisted candidates are informed via email
  • Selected applicants must confirm acceptance within 2 days, failing which the offer is cancelled

Nature of Work: Corporate Law Internship SEBI

Interns are assigned to divisions within SEBI’s Legal Department and may be involved in:

  • Legal and regulatory research
  • Drafting legal notes, briefs, and case summaries
  • Assisting in matters before:
    • High Courts
    • Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT)
    • Special Courts
