The Centre for Consumer Law Research and Practice (CCLRP) at National Law University, Jodhpur is hosting its 1st NLUJ-CCLRP National Essay Writing Competition 2026 to mark World Consumer Rights Day (15 March 2026). Who’s Organising It?
The Centre for Consumer Law Research and Practice (CCLRP), NLU Jodhpur works on bridging the gap between consumer law theory and real-world practice. The Centre focuses on research, policy engagement, and spreading awareness about consumer rights and dispute redressal mechanisms. The competition is part of their effort to push academic writing, policy discourse, and interdisciplinary dialogue in this space.
What’s the Competition About?
Consumer transactions today aren’t just about physical markets—they’re spread across digital platforms, AI-driven services, data-driven advertising, and more. That means consumer law now overlaps with technology, behavioural economics, data governance, and platform regulation.
To encourage fresh, research-backed perspectives, CCLRP is inviting law students to write essays that combine scholarly rigour, creative thinking, and a forward-looking approach to consumer protection.

Who Can Participate? (Eligibility)
- Open to law students enrolled in a 5-year or 3-year LL.B. programme in India.
- Both single-author and co-authored (two authors) entries are allowed.

- Fully online—you can register and submit from anywhere.
Registration & Submission Process
- Pay the registration fee via the official payment portal:

a) Your essay in MS Word (.doc/.docx) format.
b) The payment receipt/screenshot of the registration fee.

Fee Details
- Single author: ₹250
- Co-authored (two authors): ₹500
- Fee is non-refundable.
Prizes & Certificates
- 1st Prize: ₹4,000 + Certificate of Merit
- 2nd Prize: ₹3,000 + Certificate of Merit
- 3rd Prize: ₹2,000 + Certificate of Merit
- All participants will receive an e-certificate of participation.
