National Law University Delhi (NLU Delhi) has invited applications for the position of Academic Fellow under the prestigious K.L. Arora Chair on Criminal Law. About the K.L. Arora Chair on Criminal Law
The K.L. Arora Chair on Criminal Law was established at NLU Delhi to promote advanced teaching, research, and advocacy in criminal law.
The Chair was created in memory of Late Shri Kundan Lal Arora, Senior Advocate, through the efforts of Justice D.P. Wadhwa, former Judge of the Supreme Court of India, in accordance with the wishes of Late Ms. Laj Bharti.
The Chair aims to encourage meaningful research and academic engagement in criminal law at both national and international levels.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must satisfy the following requirements:
Educational Qualifications
- LL.M. degree from a recognized Indian or foreign university with at least 55% marks; or
- Master’s Degree in Social Sciences such as:
- Criminology
- Psychology
- Minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade.
Additional Requirements
- Applicants from Social Science backgrounds must demonstrate interdisciplinary research involving law.
- Strong knowledge of criminal law is essential.
- Prior research experience, including fieldwork and data collection, is desirable.
- Proven research record in criminal law or related interdisciplinary fields will be considered an advantage.
Key Responsibilities
The selected Academic Fellow will be expected to:
Research and Publications
- Conduct research on emerging developments in criminal law.
- Publish scholarly papers and contribute to annual academic publications.
- Study contemporary national and international criminal law developments.
Academic Activities
- Organize national and international seminars, workshops, and conferences.
- Develop research projects and academic curricula.
- Contribute to teaching and research methodologies.
Training and Advocacy
- Conduct training programs related to criminal trial practice.
- Promote criminal advocacy and professional development.
- Research pressing criminal justice issues, including:
- Cross-border terrorism
- Victimology
- Contemporary criminal justice challenges
International Collaboration
- Build academic partnerships with reputed foreign universities.
- Promote international exchange and collaborative research in criminal law.
Other Responsibilities
- Recommend deserving candidates for awards and recognitions in criminal law.
- Undertake academic and professional initiatives aimed at expanding criminal law research and practice.
