1st UPSIFS National Moot Court Competition 2026

The Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Science (UPSIFS), Lucknow is organising the 1st UPSIFS National Moot Court Competition 2026 through its Moot Court Committee, School of Law, Forensic Justice & Policy Studies. The competition is designed to provide law students with practical exposure to legal research, memorial preparation, oral advocacy and courtroom argumentation.

About Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Science

Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Science (UPSIFS), Lucknow is a government institution working towards developing skilled professionals in the fields of law, forensic science and criminal justice. The Institute is affiliated with the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Gandhinagar and functions under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.

A distinctive feature of UPSIFS is its “Law-with-Labs” approach, which combines legal education with practical forensic learning. This interdisciplinary model aims to help students understand the connection between law, technology, forensic investigation and the criminal justice system.

About the Moot Court Competition

The 1st UPSIFS National Moot Court Competition 2026 will focus on contemporary constitutional and criminal law issues, particularly those involving emerging developments in technology, forensic investigation and criminal justice.

The competition will be conducted in two phases:

• Online Preliminary Rounds: 15–16 October 2026
• Offline Rounds at UPSIFS, Lucknow: 30–31 October 2026

The event will help participating students develop skills in:

• Legal research
• Memorial drafting
• Oral advocacy
• Critical analysis
• Courtroom presentation
• Application of constitutional and criminal law principles

Eligibility Criteria

Students meeting the following requirements can participate:

• Students pursuing a 3-year LL.B. programme are eligible.
• Students enrolled in a 5-year integrated law programme can participate.
• Students exclusively pursuing postgraduate or diploma programmes are not eligible.
• A team may consist of two or three members.
• A three-member team must have two Speakers and one Researcher.
• A two-member team will have two Speakers, with one Speaker additionally acting as the Researcher.
• Multiple teams from one institution may participate, subject to submission of the prescribed No Objection Certificate (NOC).

Registration Fee

The registration fee is ₹3,000 per team and covers participation in the online preliminary rounds.

Teams qualifying for the offline rounds will additionally have to pay an Accommodation and Hospitality Fee of ₹1,000 per person, which includes accommodation and meals during the offline phase.

The registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.

• ₹7,000 cash prize

• Paid internship

E-certificates of participation will be provided to all registered participants.

How to Register

Interested teams should complete the prescribed registration process:

1. Fill out the official registration form.
2. Pay the ₹3,000 team registration fee through the prescribed bank transfer or UPI facility.
3. Submit registration details and payment proof.
4. Await verification by the organising committee.
5. The Primary Contact Person will receive the Team Code through email after successful verification.
6. Use the allotted Team Code for future official communication.
