The National Human Rights Commission @ NHRC invites for Online Short-Term Summer Paid Internship, August Batch 2025. The NHRC to promote Human Rights literacy, and awareness vides Section 12 (h) of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993. To spread awareness among university students about the need to protect and promote human rights, the Commission has been conducting internship programs regularly since 1998.
Eligibility: National Human Rights Commission Online Internship
For August 2025, a two-week “Online Short-Term Internship Programme August 2025 (OSTI- August 2025)” will be held from 11th to 22nd August 2025. Applications are invited from eligible students of the entire country. Eligibility and selection criteria will be as follows: –
- Students studying in the 3rd year and onwards of any integrated 5-year PG Course.
- Students studying in 3rd / final year of a graduation course.
- Students of any semester/ year of any post-graduate degree course (also applicable to the students in the year LL. B programme);
- Students of any semester/ year of any post-graduate diploma course.
- Students who are research scholars in any stream.
- Students must have consistently attained a minimum of 60% marks in Class XII and all subsequent semesters in attended degree or diploma courses, including the presently pursued courses.
- The calculated percentage has to be mentioned clearly from their CGPA/SGPA, along with the formula for the percentage obtained. Failure to do either of it would result in rejection of the application form.
How to Apply: National Human Rights Commission Online Internship
- A 250-word write-up on the topic “Statement of Purpose for joining NHRC Online Short-Term Internship” will be required to be submitted by the applicants online along with the application form, which will also serve as a basis of selection.
- Students who have research potential in the areas relating to human rights will be preferred (to be indicated in the write-up).
- The students may also include the details of co-curricular activities, Moot Courts, Internships, research projects for strengthening their application.

In absence of following, the applications are liable to be rejected.
- Enclose self-attested scanned copies of mark-sheet from 10th standard onwards and mark- sheet of each year/semester of graduation & presently pursuing course and letter of recommendation (LOR) by concerned HOD/Dean/Principal which should be of a date subsequent to the date of uploading of this advertisement and for the presently pursued course.
- Scanned Self attested mark-sheets of 12th Standard, all Semesters of Graduation Course & marks sheets of all semesters of Pursuing Course.
- Scanned Statement of Purposes (SOPs); and
- Scanned Recommendation letter by HOD/Dean/Principal concerned in the annexed Proforma.
Tim-line: NHRC Online Internship 2025
- This is a full time Internship Programme from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm (Monday to Friday). Students must ensure about their availability before applying.
- The student should not be more than 28 years old as on 1 July, 2025.
Learnings under NHRC Online Internship 2025
Brief Course Structure of Online Short-Term Internship – (11th to 22nd August 2025) would be as stated below- About 40-45 sessions on various human rights issues are proposed to be covered to sensitize the interns. The OSTI- August 2025 will include following inputs:
- Address/ Interaction with Hon’ble Chairperson and Members of NHRC and other domain Experts including senior Govt. of India Officials.
- Group Project work on Human Right issues.
- Book Review to be submitted by the students
- Screening of Films on Human Rights concerning child and bonded labour issues, Anti Trafficking, Health including mental health and Education issues etc.
- Virtual Field Visit to Jail, Police Station & NGO/ Shelter Homes. In these virtual visits the interns get to see the working of these institutions and may get their related questions addressed.
Awards: NHRC Summer Internship 2025
- All the student interns successfully completing the internship would receive a stipend of Rs. 2000/- (Rupees Two Thousand only)
- Certificate of participation will be awarded to the candidates on the basis of their punctuality, discipline, participation in online sessions, timely submission of Group Project Presentation & Project Reports, and Book Reviews.
- It is mandatory for interns to attend all the sessions of the internship. Any application of leave will not be entertained.
