About the Opportunity

NCLT benches are spread across major cities, including Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Amravati, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cuttack, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and New Delhi. Selected candidates will provide research assistance to the Hon’ble President and Members of NCLT, with responsibilities ranging from preparing case summaries to conducting legal research on company law and insolvency matters.

Eligibility Criteria: NCLT Law Research Associates

To apply for the LRA role, candidates must meet the following conditions:

• Graduate in Law (3-year or 5-year program) with minimum 50% marks, recognized by the Bar Council of India.
• Law degree/LLM obtained not earlier than two years from the date of advertisement.
• Final-year law students (5-year/3-year course) may also apply, provided proof of qualification is furnished before joining.
• Candidates must be below 30 years of age as of October 22, 2025.
• Strong research and analytical skills, proficiency in legal databases (SCC Online, Manupatra, LexisNexis, etc.), and sound knowledge of Company Law and Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) are essential.

Disqualifications

Applicants will be disqualified if:

• Engaged elsewhere on an honorarium basis.
• Involved in a criminal case or facing disciplinary proceedings.

Salary and Benefits

• ₹60,000 per month for all benches except New Delhi.
• ₹80,000 per month for the New Delhi bench.
• No DA, HRA, accommodation, or other allowances are provided.

Key Duties of Law Research Associates

• Assist in reading case files, preparing summaries, and drafting notes.
• Conduct in-depth legal research on pending matters.
• Help in preparation, editing, and correction of judgments.
• Maintain case files, verify citations, and attend court proceedings.
• Support in preparing research papers, speeches, and conference materials.
• Ensure confidentiality and integrity in all assigned tasks.

Tenure and Conditions

• Initial contract: 1 year, extendable up to a maximum of 3 years based on performance.
• LRAs cannot practice as advocates during the term and for 3 years thereafter before the same bench.
• Full-time engagement; no parallel studies or employment allowed.

Selection Process

• Based on Written Examination and Interview.
• Tests will assess knowledge of the Companies Act, 2013, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016, allied laws, and legal research skills.
• Shortlisting may be applied if the number of applications is high.
