NUSRL Ranchi has announced its Continuous Legal Education (CLE) Program 2026, a six-month, fully residential training initiative for young lawyers under the Project on Undertrial Prisoners and CLE. The program focuses on bridging theory and courtroom practice through intensive training, workshops, mentorship, and field-based learning, aligned with Judicial Academy standards.
About NUSRL Ranchi
NUSRL Ranchi was established in 2010 by an Act of the Jharkhand State Legislature and is:
- Recognised by UGC under Section 22
- Approved by the Bar Council of India under Section 12B
- Headed by:
- Rector: Hon’ble Governor of Jharkhand
- Chancellor: Hon’ble Chief Justice, High Court of Jharkhand
- Vice-Chancellor: Prof. (Dr.) Ashok R. Patil
The university focuses on combining traditional legal education with modern, practice-oriented approaches.
About the CLE Program
The Continuous Legal Education (CLE) Program is a training-cum-workshop initiative that provides:
- Advanced litigation skills
- Mentorship by senior advocates and academicians
- Training in research, drafting, advocacy, and communication
- Exposure to Jharkhand-specific laws
- Networking and professional development opportunities
- Certificate of completion/participation after clearing a written test

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must fulfil the following conditions:
- Young lawyers with 0–5 years of practice
- Enrolled after 2020
- Must be enrolled with:
- Jharkhand State Bar Council, or
- Any other State Bar Council in India
- Applicants from all 24 districts of Jharkhand eligible
- Priority to candidates from marginalised communities
- Willingness to attend all residential phases
Selection Process: NUSRL Ranchi CLE Program 2026
- Application Screening – Eligibility & completeness check
- District-wise Shortlisting – Ensuring representation from all 24 districts
- Preference Given To:
- Legal aid experience
- Work with DLSA / JHALSA
- Marginalised community representation
- Demonstrated public service commitment
- Final Approval – By NUSRL in coordination with JHALSA & DLSA
A waiting list will be maintained in case selected candidates withdraw.
Responsibilities of Selected Candidates
- Active participation in:
- Sessions
- Workshops
- Group activities
- Completion of assignments and field tasks
- Strict adherence to:
- University code of conduct
- Confidentiality norms
- Maintaining professional discipline and integrity
