The National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, invites applications for the position of Senior Research Associate at the Centre for Child and the Law (CCL). This is a full-time, one-year contractual role focused on research and policy work under the Right to Food Programme.

About the Centre for Child and the Law (CCL)

Established as a multi-disciplinary research centre, the Centre for Child and the Law (CCL) at NLSIU works towards ensuring justice, equality, and dignity for every child. The Centre combines research, advocacy, training, and field action to address key issues related to child rights in India.

CCL’s work primarily focuses on:

  • Ensuring food and nutrition security
  • Promoting equitable quality education
  • Strengthening systems for care and protection of children
  • Advocating justice for marginalised and excluded groups

Through socio-legal interventions, CCL aims to promote transformative social change and contribute to building a society that upholds the rights and welfare of every child.

About the Role

The Senior Research Associate will play a crucial role in supporting the Centre’s socio-legal and policy research initiatives related to food security and nutrition rights. This position is based at NLSIU, Bengaluru, and involves research, training, policy engagement, and advocacy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct policy research on issues of food security and child rights.
  • Design and implement data collection and analysis tools.
  • Prepare research reports using both qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Collaborate with government departments, NGOs, and stakeholders to advance child nutrition policies.
  • Develop and refine training modules for workshops and capacity-building programmes.
  • Publish research articles in peer-reviewed journals and contribute to NLSIU blogs.
  • Support other ongoing initiatives and projects under CCL.

Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualifications (Essential)

  • Postgraduate degree in Law, Public Policy, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or related fields with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks.

Experience (Essential)

  • Minimum five years of post-qualification work experience, with at least two years in policy or socio-legal research.

Desirable Experience

  • Prior work in food security, child rights, or social development sectors will be an advantage.

Salary Range

💰 Rs. 75,000 – Rs. 1,00,000 per month, depending on qualifications, experience, and demonstrated skills.
