About Law Commission of India Internship 2026

The Voluntary Internship Scheme 2026 of the Law Commission of India under the Ministry of Law & Justice (Department of Legal Affairs) is aimed at providing undergraduate and postgraduate law students and scholars with an opportunity to gain practical experience and a deeper understanding of the Commission’s research-oriented work in the fields of legal reform, law and policy development, and legal system modernisation.

Eligibility: Law Commission of India Voluntary Internship Scheme 2026

  • Law Students who have, at the time of making the application, completed at least 2 years of the S-year law degree course or
  • 1 year of the 3-year law degree course at any recognised University/Law School/Law College shall be eligible for internship in the Law Commission of India under this Scheme.
  • A candidate shall be entitled to apply for an internship under this Scheme only once during a financial year.

Duration: Ministry of Law & Justice Internship 2026

  • The internship under this Scheme shall ordinarily be for four weeks, which may be extended on the intern’s request for a maximum period of eight weeks, subject to the recommendation of the supervising officer and approval of the Chairperson.

Place of Internship: Law Commission of India, Voluntary Internship 2026

Law Commission’s Office” means its present place of work at Lok Nayak Bhavan, ‘B’Wing,2nd Floor, Khan Market, New Delhi-110003 or any other place of work as may be notified from time to time.

Selection Procedure: Law Commission Internship 2026

  • The interested and eligible candidates may send their applications for internship with the Law Commission of India in the format appended to this Scheme as Appendix A.
  • While making the application, a candidate shall submit:
    • An updated CV.
    • A scanned copy of the ID card issued by their institution.
    • A scanned copy of the signed and stamped letter of recommendation from a professor or dean of their institution
    • A scanned copy of the latest or last marksheet received from their institution.

How to Apply: Law Commission Internship

  • At least two months in advance of the intended starting date of the internship.
  • Every application under this Scheme shall be submitted only in online mode at lci-dla@nic.in
