NLSIU Litigation Fellowships 2026 – Apply Now for Early-Career Litigators

The National Law School of India University (NLSIU) has opened applications for its Litigation Fellowships 2026. The programme backs young lawyers who are already practising in courts and are committed to strengthening the rule of law and constitutional values.

Why it matters

  • Starting out is tough—especially for first-generation lawyers, those from marginalised backgrounds, and women, who often struggle with fair fees, mentorship and skill-building.
  • The fellowship creates a two-year support system with a stipend, guidance and a peer network.

What fellows receive

  • Monthly stipend: ₹30,000 for 24 months
  • Mentorship & training: regular learning sessions and professional development
  • Peer community: a cohort of 30 litigators across Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata (initial phase)
  • Extra opportunities for women fellows to join NLSIU’s broader skill-building and networking initiatives

Who can apply

  • Law graduates (3-year or 5-year LL.B.) with ≥55% or equivalent CGPA, enrolled with a State Bar Council and cleared the All India Bar Examination
  • Final-year students graduating in 2026 may apply; they must meet the above criteria before the fellowship starts
  • Age ≤30 on the last date of application, and ≤5 years since graduation
  • Must have a confirmed position with a practising lawyer/law office and submit a statement of purpose on advancing rule of law & constitutional values
  • Preference for first-generation lawyers and candidates from marginalised groups; women are strongly encouraged
