Call for Applications | Short-Term Visiting Fellowships (July-September 2026) – Centre for the Future of Law
National Law School of India University (NLSIU) has invited applications for the Short-Term Visiting Fellowships (July–September 2026) at the JSW Centre for the Future of Law. The fellowship programme is designed for researchers, academicians, policy experts, and professionals interested in interdisciplinary legal research and policy development.
The fellowship will be conducted at the NLSIU campus in Bengaluru and offers selected fellows an opportunity to work on research projects related to law, technology, governance, artificial intelligence, climate justice, and legal system reforms.

About the JSW Centre for the Future of Law
JSW Centre for the Future of Law was established in 2024 with support from the JSW Foundation. The Centre focuses on research and policy discussions related to the future of law and governance.
The Centre works on interdisciplinary themes involving:
- Law and artificial intelligence
- Data governance and digital regulation
- Health, biotechnology, and ethics
- Risk regulation and regulatory systems
- Climate change and ecological justice
- Technology-driven legal reforms
The Centre officially began its research activities during the academic year 2025–2026.
About the Visiting Fellowship 2026
The fellowship programme aims to support scholars and professionals working on innovative legal and policy research. Selected fellows will become part of an academic community consisting of faculty members, researchers, and students at NLSIU.
Fellows will undertake independent research projects connected to the Centre’s thematic areas and contribute to research publications, seminars, and academic discussions.
Fellowship Duration
- Fellowship Period: July 1, 2026 to September 30, 2026
- Duration: 3 Months
- Location: NLSIU Campus, Bengaluru
Fellowship Responsibilities
Selected fellows will be required to:
- Work full-time from the JSW Centre for the Future of Law at NLSIU
- Conduct research on approved thematic areas
- Prepare at least:
- One working paper, or
- Two short-form research outputs such as:
- Policy briefs
- Blog articles
- Case briefs
- Opinion pieces
- Commentaries
- Present research work in seminars or colloquiums
- Participate in research strategy discussions and academic activities
- Deliver guest lectures related to their area of expertise

Eligibility Criteria
Essential Qualifications
Applicants must have:
- A PhD in:
- Law
- Social Sciences
- Public Policy
- Related disciplines
OR
- Minimum 10 years of experience in academic or research roles
Applicants should also demonstrate:
- Expertise in at least one thematic area of the Centre
- Strong research background with publications or equivalent academic work
Preferred Qualifications
Preference may be given to candidates having:
- 1–3 years of post-doctoral research experience
- Excellent academic and policy writing skills
- Strong communication and analytical abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Fellowship Salary
The fellowship remuneration ranges between:
- Rs. 1,00,000 to Rs. 1,20,000 per month
The final amount will depend on the candidate’s qualifications and professional experience.
