Fourth NLUJ-IBBI Online Certificate Course 2026: Insolvency and Bankruptcy Law

The National Law University, Jodhpur (NLUJ), in collaboration with the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI), is organising the Fourth NLUJ-IBBI Online Certificate Course on Insolvency and Bankruptcy Law 2026.

The six-day online programme will be conducted from 8 October to 13 October 2026 under the theme “Beyond a Decade: The IBC in Transition.” The course focuses on the development of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC), recent institutional developments, regulatory changes and emerging practices in insolvency law.

About CIBS-NLUJ

The Centre for Insolvency and Bankruptcy Studies (CIBS) at National Law University, Jodhpur was established in August 2019 to encourage research, scholarship and academic discussion in insolvency and bankruptcy law.

Key activities and initiatives of CIBS include:

  • Conducting the CIBS-IBBI Online Certificate Course.
  • Organising insolvency and bankruptcy law competitions.
  • Publishing Solventia – Journal of Insolvency and Bankruptcy Laws, a peer-reviewed bi-annual journal.
  • Operating The Restructuring Ledger, its insolvency-focused blog.
  • Publishing academic works concerning developments under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code.

The previous edition of the certificate course reportedly attracted more than 720 active participants from over 105 institutions, demonstrating significant academic interest in insolvency and bankruptcy law.

About the NLUJ-IBBI Certificate Course 2026

The Fourth NLUJ-IBBI Online Certificate Course 2026 is designed to provide participants with contemporary and practical exposure to India’s insolvency framework.

The programme will cover the evolution of the IBC over the past decade and examine developments influencing its future.

Weekday sessions are generally scheduled between 4:00 PM and 6:30/7:00 PM, while weekend sessions are expected to run approximately from 10:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Final timings will be communicated to registered participants.

Certification and Assessment

Participants will undergo academic assessments during the programme.

The assessment structure includes:

  • Two time-bound online MCQ examinations.
  • An essay of up to 1,500 words based on themes provided by CIBS.
  • Certificate of Participation for participants meeting the minimum 70% attendance requirement.
  • Certificate of Merit for participants achieving a cumulative score of 75% or above in the two MCQ examinations.

The five best essays may receive an opportunity for consideration for publication in Solventia – Journal of Insolvency and Bankruptcy Laws, subject to the journal’s editorial standards and publication requirements.

Internship and Career Opportunities

One of the notable features of the programme is its merit-based internship opportunities.

More than 15 internship opportunities are proposed for eligible top-performing participants with law firms, think tanks, chambers, practitioners and academicians. Organisations mentioned in the course information include Khaitan & Co. and Wadia Ghandy & Co., among others.
