The Punjab State Human Rights Commission (PSHRC) is a statutory body established on 17 March 1997 under the Protection of Human Rights Act, of 1993. It is mandated to protect and promote human rights in the state of Punjab. The PSHRC is headquartered in Chandigarh, the capital of Punjab.

The PSHRC’s main functions are:
- To investigate and inquire into complaints of human rights violations.
- To intervene in cases where human rights violations are likely to occur.
- To review the laws, policies, and practices of the government to ensure that they are in conformity with human rights standards.
- To promote awareness of human rights through education and training.
- To recommend to the government measures to promote and protect human rights.
The PSHRC has several powers to carry out its functions, including the power to:
- Summon and examine witnesses.
- Compel the production of documents.
- Visit any place where human rights violations are alleged to have occurred.
- Grant interim relief to victims of human rights violations.

The PSHRC has played an important role in protecting and promoting human rights in Punjab. It has investigated numerous cases of human rights violations and has made several recommendations to the government. The PSHRC has also raised awareness of human rights issues among the people of Punjab.
Important Dates
You are requested to kindly submit the following details with attached Annexure 1 through (email only on intern.pshrc@gmail.com) on or before 3.00 pm on 16th December 2023.
Documents required and selection criteria will be as follows: –
1. Latest CV
2. 10th marks sheet self-attested
3. 12th marks sheet self-attested
4. Reason for wanting to join as an Intern in PSHRC:
Please attach a handwritten write-up of 500 words
5. Recommendation letter from college HOD
6. College ID proof
7. Annexure I (Copy Attached)
If required the merit will be made based on marks calculated out of a total of 100 marks on account of Class X & XII @ 30 Marks each, and the Marks scored in the Write-up of 500 words @ 40 Marks.

Rules and regulations governing the Internship Programme :
• Internship period 1 month
∙ They will have to attend the program regularly without a break.
• Their daily attendance will be marked in a register/ attendance sheet.
• No stipend/ No accommodation
• On completion of the Internship, certificates will be issued based on performance on the following criteria:
Attendance; Punctuality, Discipline, Participation in Class during sessions; Project Presentation & Project Report, Debate and Book Review.
