Internship Summary: NHRC Internship Experience

I’m glad to share that I recently completed my internship at the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC)—India’s apex institution for the protection and promotion of human rights.

This internship provided me with valuable insights into the practical working of a human rights body and its intersection with law, governance, and public policy.

During this enriching experience, I had the opportunity to

• Studied landmark human rights cases and gained exposure to the internal functioning of the NHRC.
• Drafted legal research reports on crucial topics such as custodial violence, child rights, and the challenges faced by marginalized communities.
• Participated in webinars, case discussions, and expert lectures conducted by leading human rights professionals and legal experts.
• Engaged with critical legal issues including the right to life, dignity, and protection from abuse and exploitation.

Takeaways

This experience deepened my understanding of the relationship between law, justice, and human dignity, and reaffirmed my passion for contributing to a more just and equitable legal system.

I am sincerely thankful to the NHRC and all the mentors and coordinators who guided and supported me throughout the program.
