ToggleRaipur, November 2, 2025
The Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU), Raipur, marked the 25th Foundation Day of Chhattisgarh with a week-long celebration that beautifully blended art, literature, and culture. The commemorative events began with a Books and Art Exhibition at the University Library and concluded with a grand cultural evening titled “CG@25”, honouring the State’s rich heritage and progressive journey since its formation in 2000.
Organised jointly by the Student Bar Association’s Learning Resources Committee (LRC) and the Cultural Committee of HNLU, the week celebrated the vibrant legacy of Chhattisgarh Rajyotsav, bringing together students, faculty, and staff in a collective expression of pride and belonging.
Books and Art Exhibition: Showcasing Chhattisgarh’s Heritage
Held on November 1, 2025, the Books and Art Exhibition connected HNLU’s academic community with the cultural essence of Chhattisgarh.
Guided by Prof. (Dr.) Vishnu Konoorayar, Faculty Convener, LRC, the exhibition featured paintings by local artists highlighting the tribal traditions, folk art, and cultural diversity of the State.
A curated book display explored topics including regional cuisines, customs, folk festivals, and the iconic Bastar Dussehra. The exhibition was organized in collaboration with the Tribal Research and Training Institute (TRTI), Nava Raipur, providing a scholarly yet creative perspective on the region’s heritage.
The event was graced by Prof. (Dr.) V. C. Vivekanandan, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Dr. Deepak Kumar Srivastava, Registrar, and faculty members.
Prof. Vivekanandan appreciated the initiative, calling it a “meaningful effort to celebrate Chhattisgarh’s cultural identity within an academic space.” He emphasized that such events foster a sense of belonging, inclusivity, and cultural awareness among law students.
For many, this was the first cultural exhibition hosted inside the University Library, an innovative way to merge academics with art and social consciousness. Students described it as “an inspiring and educational experience” that deepened their understanding of Chhattisgarh’s roots.
“CG@25” – A Cultural Tribute to Chhattisgarh’s Journey
Continuing the Rajyotsav festivities, HNLU hosted a grand cultural evening titled “CG@25” on November 2, 2025, celebrating 25 years of the State’s progress and spirit.
The programme began with the traditional lighting of the lamp by Dr. Deepak Kumar Srivastava, Registrar, HNLU, who reflected on the State’s journey, saying:
“Chhattisgarh feels like home, occupying a special place in the hearts of its residents.”
Dr. Ankit Singh, Faculty Convener of the Cultural Committee, highlighted the natural beauty of Naya Raipur and the warmth of the HNLU community, linking the event to the State’s growing prominence.
Performances that Captured the State’s Soul
The evening brought together an exciting blend of music, dance, theatre, and poetry.
- The student group “More Maati ke Rang” presented a traditional dance performance representing the folk heritage of Chhattisgarh.
- The Legal Aid and Social Services Committee, under Dr. Kaumudi Challa, staged a moving skit titled “Sannata Ghar Ka”, tackling social issues such as domestic violence and substance abuse.
- Nomesh Rawte, a student of HNLU, captivated the audience with his original poem “Chhattisgariya Sable Badiya”, an ode to the pride and resilience of Chhattisgarh.
- The Literary and Debating Committee organized an engaging quiz competition “Rajyotsav”, exploring facts about the eight Indian states that share November 1 as their foundation day.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Ashutosh Aahire, who encouraged students to uphold cultural inclusivity and pride in regional identity.
A Tribute to Chhattisgarh’s Legacy
Through these creative and academic initiatives, HNLU Raipur reaffirmed its commitment to fostering intellectual growth enriched with cultural consciousness.
The dual celebrations — the Books and Art Exhibition and the “CG@25” cultural evening — stood as a tribute to Chhattisgarh’s 25-year journey of resilience, development, and cultural pride.
By bridging heritage with higher education, the University continues to inspire its students to embrace the State’s legacy while preparing for global excellence.
