National Corporate Client Counselling Competition 2026 (NCCCC) | MNLU Mumbai Corporate Law Competition

The 2nd National Corporate Client Counselling Competition (NCCCC) 2026, organised by Maharashtra National Law University (MNLU), Mumbai, through its Centre for Training & Research in Commercial Regulations (CTRCR), is a flagship national-level competition aimed at strengthening practical corporate lawyering skills among law students.

Designed around real-world corporate dispute scenarios, the competition provides students with hands-on exposure to client handling, legal strategy, and corporate counselling, making it one of the most practical corporate law competitions in India.

About the Organising Institutions

MNLU Mumbai

Established on 20 March 2014 under the Maharashtra National Law University Act, MNLU Mumbai is one of India’s premier National Law Universities, committed to advanced legal education, advocacy skills, and law reform for social transformation.

Centre for Training & Research in Commercial Regulations (CTRCR)

CTRCR focuses on corporate law, commercial regulations, and interdisciplinary research, bringing together academicians, practitioners, regulators, and students.

About NCCCC 2026

NCCCC 2026 is the second edition of this prestigious competition. The inaugural edition saw 32 teams judged by professionals from leading law firms such as SAM, CAM, Khaitan & Co., JSA, Trilegal, among others.

The competition focuses on client counselling, a critical but often under-emphasised lawyering skill, where participants must:

  • Open to students enrolled in:
    • 5-Year Integrated Law Program, or
    • 3-Year LL.B. Program
  • Teams may participate as:
    • University-nominated teams, or
    • Open (non-university) teams selected through CV evaluation (subject to slot availability)

Competition Structure (Explained Simply)

Preliminary Rounds (Online)

  • Dates: 27–28 February 2026
  • Teams: 40 teams
  • Format:
    • 2 rounds per team (different propositions)
    • 20 minutes of client counselling
    • 10 minutes post-consultation discussion
  • Evaluation: Cumulative score of both rounds
  • The top 4 teams qualify for the advanced rounds.
  • Clients are role-played by selected MNLU Mumbai students

Advanced Rounds (On Campus)

  • Date: 11 April 2026
  • Semi-Finals: Top 4 teams → judged by 3 judges
  • Finals: Top 2 teams → judged by 5 judges
  • Highest-scoring team declared the winner
