About the Ministry of Women and Child Development Internship

The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) has launched an internship programme 2026. The programme aims to empower women scholars, students, teachers, and social activists by involving them in policy research and project activities. to translate the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayaas” into action for a self-reliant India.

Who Can Apply: MWCD Internship

The internship is open to:

  • Women students, scholars, teachers, and social activists
  • Age group: 21 to 40 years
  • Must be associated with any academic or non-academic institution
  • Candidates from non-Tier-I cities and rural India are eligible (Tier-I cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, and Pune are excluded).

Internship Duration and Schedule

The programme is offered in four terms each year:

  • May–June
  • August–September
  • November–December
  • February–March
    • Each internship lasts for two months.

Activities During the Internship

Interns will:

  • Work on pilot projects and micro-studies aligned with the Ministry’s schemes
  • Contribute to policy research, analysis, and programme evaluation
  • Interact with officials, stakeholders, and other ministries
  • Submit reports, papers, and presentations on women and child development issues

Number of Interns

A maximum of 20 interns per batch will be selected.

Selection Process

  • Selection will be carried out by a Ministry-appointed committee.
  • Faculty members and experts from reputed institutes may assist in evaluation.
  • Once selected, candidates cannot reapply for future batches.

Termination Clause

The Ministry reserves the right to review performance and terminate the internship in case of non-compliance, non-performance, or unsatisfactory work.

  • Applications must be submitted online via the official portal: http://wcd.intern.nic.in/
  • Apply two months before the internship term (between 1st and 10th of the month).
  • Example: Apply between 1–10 March for the May–June batch.
