HNLU Students Shine in International Mooting Competitions, Secure Runner-Up Positions
Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU), Raipur, has once again demonstrated the strength of its moot court culture after its students secured prominent positions in two major international legal competitions in 2026.
The university’s recent achievements include a Runner-Up position at the 21st Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) International Arbitration Moot, 2026 – South Asia Regional Rounds, and another Runner-Up finish at the Asia Pacific Commercial Mediation Competition, 2026.
These results highlight HNLU’s focus on practical legal education, advocacy, research and professional skill development.
HNLU Team Finishes Runner-Up at FDI International Arbitration Moot
A four-member HNLU team comprising Tamishra Chakraborty, Kruthika Senthil Kumar, Malvika Chandra and Palak Anand performed strongly at the South Asia Regional Rounds of the 21st FDI International Arbitration Moot, 2026.
The competition was organised by Lloyd Law College, Noida, and was held from 30 July to 2 August 2026.
Key achievements included:
- HNLU secured the Runner-Up position in the South Asia Regional Rounds.
- The team qualified for the Final Oral Rounds in Shenzhen, China, among the top 10 teams.
- Kruthika Senthil Kumar was recognised as Best Speaker for the Claimant and Best Speaker for the Final Round.
- Tamishra Chakraborty received an Honourable Mention for Best Speaker for the Claimant.
The achievement reflects the students’ ability to handle complex issues relating to international investment arbitration and oral advocacy.
Success at Asia Pacific Commercial Mediation Competition
HNLU students also recorded another international success at the Asia Pacific Commercial Mediation Competition 2026, organised by the Australian Dispute Centre from 28 to 30 August 2026.
The team of Karnika Gaira, Prashansa Verma and Arushi Yadav, all fourth-year B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) students, emerged as Runners-Up.
The team additionally received the Best Team for Relationship Building award and was offered an internship opportunity with the Australian Dispute Centre.
Moot Clinic Promotes Practical Legal Education
HNLU attributes these achievements partly to its Moot Clinic initiative, which was introduced as an alternative to mid-term examinations. The initiative provides students with practical exposure to legal research, written submissions, oral advocacy and courtroom-style problem solving.
According to HNLU Vice Chancellor Prof. V.C. Vivekanandan, the university has developed a strong moot culture by introducing hands-on advocacy from the early stages of legal education.
