Internship Summary: BSLSA Summer Law Internship
I completed a three-week summer internship organized by the Bihar State Legal Services Authority (BSLSA) at the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Nawada. This internship served as a transformative experience, offering me hands-on exposure to the grassroots functioning of the Indian legal system, particularly in the domain of free legal aid and access to justice.
Key Learnings & Engagements
- Observed and participated in proceedings at Family Courts, Sessions Courts, and the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB).
- Engaged with institutions such as the Mediation Centre, Adoption Centre, Child Welfare Committee (CWC), and local NGOs.
- Visited the Nawada District Jail, gaining practical insights into prison administration and rehabilitation efforts.
- Witnessed real-time implementation of legal aid initiatives and interacted with various stakeholders in the justice delivery system.
Reflection: BSLSA Summer Internship Experience
This experience significantly enhanced my understanding of legal processes at the district level and deepened my awareness of the social justice mission of legal aid institutions. It not only honed my legal observation and analytical skills but also instilled in me a stronger sense of social responsibility and empathy towards marginalized communities.
