Internship Experience at Madhya Pradesh State Information Commission (MPSIC)

I had the enriching opportunity to intern at the Madhya Pradesh State Information Commission (MPSIC) under the guidance of Hon’ble State Information Commissioner Shri Rahul Singh. The internship lasted for four weeks, from 9th October 2023 to 5th November 2023, and proved to be an insightful exposure into the working of the Right to Information (RTI) regime and quasi-judicial institutions.

Key Learnings and Experience: Internship at MPSIC, Rahul Sir

Understanding the RTI Mechanism

During the internship, I gained first-hand experience in the application of the Right to Information Act, 2005. Observing real-time hearings and appeals helped me understand how the law is enforced and interpreted at the state level.

Interaction with PIOs and Appellants

Interacting with Public Information Officers (PIOs) and appellants not only improved my legal knowledge but also significantly enhanced my communication and interpersonal skills, which are essential for any aspiring legal professional.

Practical Legal Exposure

The internship provided deep insights into administrative procedures, the flow of appeal and complaint files, and the role of Information Commissioners in ensuring transparency and accountability in governance.

Scope for Improvement: State Information Commissioner Shri Rahul Singh

One suggestion for future internships is that all selected interns should begin on the same date to ensure uniform exposure and collaborative learning. Regular meetings among interns and with the Commissioner can further enhance the learning experience by resolving queries and facilitating feedback.
