The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended a Parcel Clerk at Rourkela Railway Station, Odisha, while he was caught red-handed accepting a bribe from a complainant. The arrest was made during a trap operation conducted on 21st August 2025.

According to the CBI, a case was registered on 21.08.2025 against the accused Parcel Clerk after allegations surfaced that he demanded a bribe of ₹8,000 from a complainant in exchange for booking his goods on a priority basis.
During negotiations, the accused agreed to accept the bribe amount of ₹8,000 and deliberately kept the freight booking bill with him as leverage until the complainant delivered the bribe.
Trap and Arrest
The CBI set up a trap, and on 21st August 2025, the accused was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹7,200 from the complainant. Following this, the Parcel Clerk was immediately apprehended.
Further Investigation
The CBI has confirmed that the case is currently under investigation to determine if more officials are involved in the bribery racket.
