The Indian Army JAG 34th Recruitment 2024ย is the legal branch of the military, providing legal services to military personnel, commands, and the Department of Defense. JAG officers handle a wide range of legal matters, including military justice, operational law, administrative law, and civil law. They offer legal advice, prosecute and defend in the court-martial, and ensure compliance with military regulations and international law. JAGs are trained attorneys who join the military to serve in this specialized capacity, playing a crucial role in maintaining legal order and discipline within the armed forces. Their work is vital for the effective functioning of military operations.
Judge Advocate General (JAG) Eligibility
Nationality
- A candidate must either be (i) A citizen of India, (ii) A subject of Nepal, (iii) A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, and East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia and Vietnam to permanently settle in India, provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii) and (iii) above shall be a person in whose favor a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India. A certificate of eligibility will, however, not be necessary in the case of candidates who are Gorkha subjects of Nepal.
Age Criteria for Indian Army JAG 34th Recruitment 2024
- 21 to 27 years as of 01 Jan 2025 (Born not earlier than 02 Jan 1998 and not later than 01 Jan 2004; both dates inclusive). Note. Candidates should note that the date of birth as recorded in the Matriculation/Secondary School Examination Certificate or an equivalent certificate on the date of submission of applications will only be accepted and no subsequent request for its change will be considered or granted.
Educational Qualification for Advocate General (JAG)
- Minimum 55% aggregate marks in their LLB Degree (three years professional after graduation or five years after 10 plus 2) examination. In addition, CLAT PG 2024 Score is mandatory for all candidates (including LLM-qualified and LLM-appearing candidates) who apply for courses starting in a particular year. The candidates should be eligible for registration as an advocate with Bar Council of India/State. The candidate should be from a College/University recognized by the Bar Council of India.
- Note 1: Only those candidates who hold an LLB degree/Marksheet are eligible for registration as an advocate with the BAR council of India/State is eligible to apply for this course.
- Note 2: All candidates desirous of applying for JAG Entry are mandatorily required to get their CLAT PG 2024 result verified at the Selection Centre before the conduct of SSB. If any candidate is unwilling/unable to get the CLAT PG 2024 result verified, he /she will not be eligible for SSB, and their candidature will be canceled and no representation will be accepted. It is also informed that there is no provision for offline applications to be accepted by the Directorate General of Recruiting.
